
Dr. Sushrusha Arjyal is a dual board–certified physician (Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine) at American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with extensive experience in academia, private practice, and international medical training. She has further advanced her career as an Educator and a Lifestyle and Wellness Coach with certifications from Certificate of Faculty Academy for Clinical Teaching at Duke Graduate Medical Education, Duke University, NC, and Certificate of Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching at Harvard University, MA.
Over the years, Dr. Arjyal has taught and mentored residents, fellows, physicians, therapists, and other allied healthcare professionals. With a passion for knowledge translation and practical guidance, Dr. Arjyal brings real-world insight into medical education, career development, clinical excellence, and wellness.
Dr. Arjyal grew up in the beautiful valley of Kathmandu, Nepal. She earned her medical degree from Quaid-E-Azam Medical College in Pakistan. She completed her four-year residency training at Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts and became ABPN board certified in 2017. She then pursued sub-specialty fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina and became ABPN board certified in 2018.
There are less than 10 physicians dual board certified in Sleep Medicine and Psychiatry in the entire state of North Carolina and Dr. Arjyal is one of them specializing in Psychiatric aspects of Sleep.
From 2017 to 2024, she served as a faculty member at Duke University School of Medicine, where she was part of both the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Neurology. Dr. Arjyal primarily focused on outpatient care in Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine in her Attending role.
She is an active member of the North Carolina Psychiatric Association and serves on several committees, including the Race, Ethnicity, and Equity Committee. Dr. Arjyal believes that mental health care should be accessible to everyone and served as Vice President of the Health Foundation, Nepal, an organization dedicated to helping under-served populations in Western Nepal. She continues to serve as a board member for two nonprofit organizations in Nepal.
Dr. Arjyal lives in North Carolina, which she calls home. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time in nature.
